Bonjour! This week’s carte postale was sent to me by a relative who visited the city of Ajaccio on the western part of Corsica (la Corse), the French island in the Mediterranean Sea:
Emperor of France and military leader, Napoléon Bonaparte, was born here on August 15, 1769.
Until the next Wednesday Postcard, à bientôt!
I adore Ajaccio and Corsica in general. I really feel it is a hidden, or at least a lesser known, gem in Europe. 🙂 🙂

My good friend visits Corsica most summers and tells me how wonderful it is there. I’ve heard the ferry ride to the island is enjoyable, too.

It is absolutely stunning; I highly recommend visiting 🙂 🙂 I will go again this summer if I have the chance! I took the ferry back and it was very calm, very crowded but my parents-in-law who came the next night were tossed about and felt ill so I guess there is a bit of luck involved!

Sounds intriguing…if I ever get the chance to visit, I hope to score one of those “calm” ferries 😀
