Carcassonne is located in the south of France about 80 km/ 50 miles east of Toulouse in the Occitanie region. It’s known for its medieval fortress, which was added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1997.

I love this postcard because I love Carcassonne. Our house is half an hour drive from there and we visit frequently. If we have family or friends staying with us, we usually take them to see the Citadel. It’s very impressive!

Glad you enjoyed this postcard! When I was in Toulouse, my friends had suggested Carcassonne, but unfortunately, my short stay didn’t allow time to visit the fortified city. Next time, I hope! Looks like it would take a whole day to visit – is that right?
