Bonjour! I got this week’s carte postale from a local used-book shop.
Photographer Yvon (Pierre Yves-Petit 1886-1969) made gelatin silver prints into postcards.
I tried to capture the sheen of Yvon’s gelatin silver print postcard of Chambord, one of the Châteaux de la Loire:
The year 2019 marks the 500th anniversary of Chambord.
Until the next Wednesday Postcard, à bientôt!

I’ve never been to Chambord, but I have been to the Tour Chambord in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, because my younger son lived there with some friends (on the 28th floor) when he was a student.

I imagine there’s a great view from that floor – wow!

Yes, the view is OK, especially if you look north and squint. Have a look at the sixth photo on my Sacre Coeur post: https://operasandcycling.com/sacre-coeur/

Great pic – you can see both Notre-Dame and Sacré-Cœur from there! Nice!!

Lovely. Is this the place where Chambord liqueur is made? I’m loving all your postcards, so keep them coming.
Cheers,
Carolyn

Good question, Carolyn. I learned something today – this article I found does confirm there’s a connection between the liqueur and the commune of Chambord:

Thanks also for the feedback on the postcards!

After reading the article in the link, I want a cocktail using Chambord. It would be cool to visit that region of France as well.

I agree about visiting the Chambord area. It seems like it’d be an easy day trip from Paris! As for the cocktail, go for it! Enjoy! 🍸
