Bonjour! This week’s carte postale features the old Hotel St. Catherine, which was located in the city of Avalon on Catalina Island, off the coast of California.
The elegant hotel on Descanso Beach was open from 1918 to 1966. It was a popular vacation destination among celebrities and foreign dignitaries.

Until the next Wednesday Postcard, à bientôt!
1¢ to send a postcard was a good price. Also 2¢ for foreign was not bad. Here in Germany, the postage for an international postcard is currently 0.95 €.

Fascinating! 0.95€ sounds reasonable; from France it’s currently 1.30€ to send an international postcard. From the US, the domestic/international postage for a postcard is currently $0.35/$1.15.
According to the Smithsonian National Postal Museum website ( https://s.si.edu/2HhITX2 ), postage for postcards was 1 – 2¢ between 1918-1928. I’m no expert, but based on that info, it would suggest this postcard from Catalina was likely produced around the same time period! Would you agree?

Makes me think of the movie Step Brothers and the Catalina Wine Mixer scene.
