This week’s carte postale features one-humped camels in Tunisia 🇹🇳 in North Africa.
🐪 Camels with one hump are called Arabian camels, or dromedaries. They are found in northern Africa, southwestern Asia, and Australia.
🐫 Camels with two humps are called Bactrian camels. They are found in the Gobi Desert of Mongolia and China.

I wasn’t aware of the differences in camels of different humps! Even when I rode a camel in Morocco, I didn’t pay attention to the discrepancies of each breed. I’d love to go to Tunisia some day, and to see more of the African continent!

Hi Carolyn! I didn’t know the difference either! When I was a kid, I rode a camel at Marine World Africa USA (now it’s Six Flags Discovery Kingdom!) At that time, I believed all camels had 2 humps (like in the cartoons)! But they put a harness for the riders and covered the hump(s). Now I’m thinking maybe it was a one-humped camel…? 🤔
