Wednesday Postcard: Cambridge, United Kingdom

Photo: T. Rawle

Bonjour! This week’s carte postale features the University of Cambridge and the city centre, which is about 64 miles/ 103 km north of London.

The University of Cambridge is made up of 31 constituent colleges. In the center of the postcard is King’s College, which was founded by King Henry VI in 1441.

My dear friend from France, who sent me this postcard in 1999, said he was particularly impressed with the Chapel’s architecture.

Until the next Wednesday Postcard, à bientôt! Take care.

  1. I grew up not far from Cambridge and a highlight was going to the Cambridge Arts Theatre to see Sir Ian McKellen as Richard 11. He wasn’t a Sir then and I was still at school! I have never forgotten the experience. Have you come across a village called Grantchester which is very close to Cambridge?
