Now playing on my French song playlist:
American jazz musician, Sidney Bechet wrote Petite fleur as an instrumental in 1952.
In 1959, French musician, Henri Salvador recorded the song with lyrics by Fernand Bonifay and Mario Bua.
Lyrics I like:
Petite fleur d’amour
Tu fleuriras toujours
Pour moi
Quand la vie
Par moments me trahit
Tu restes mon bonheur
Petite fleur
Translation:
Little flower of love
You will always bloom
For me
When life
Betrays me at times
You remain my happiness
Little flower

I like to listen to songs en français, so I won’t forget the French I learned in school. Are you studying French? I hope you’ll find this series entertaining and helpful, too.
Got a French song I should add to my playlist? Let me know in the comments below.
Until next Music Monday, have a good week ahead! 🌸
How about La java bleue, sung by Fréhel in 1938. I have a link to it here, along with the lyrics; https://operasandcycling.com/belleville/

Thank you, Don. I’m going to add the song to my playlist. I love the accordion in it. Would you mind if I linked to your post in a future Music Monday?
