I can’t think of a better way to escape reality than by unapologetically binge-watching Emily in Paris (Season 2) starting today, December 22, 2021, on Netflix.

What am I trying to run away from exactly?

For starters, the arrival of the holiday season took me by surprise. It’s three days before Christmas and I’ve only managed to buy a few presents and make some treat bags this year! (It’s OK. I’ve decided I’ll do what I can.)

Then, of course, there’s the ongoing fear of COVID-19, specifically the surge in Omicron variant cases, which creates undue pressure to get a booster, as well as a nagging sense of urgency to get tested more frequently using, for example, those COVID-19 antigen rapid self-test kits from the pharmacy (which, in my opinion, should be no cost to the consumer, not $25 for two tests).

In California, we’re currently experiencing an atmospheric river event resulting in heavy rainfall and flooding in burn scars caused by the recent wildfires. This extreme weather condition makes me want to stay home.

With everything else going on (normal daily stressors, like work, family matters, health), it’s easy to become overwhelmed and exhausted.

When I want to escape reality for a few moments, I like to rewatch my favorite episodes from the first season of Emily in Paris, namely episodes 4 and 8. I’m glad there’s another season and that it’s here!

To celebrate the start of Season 2, I got some pink roses, like Emily did the day she met Camille for the first time (Season 1, Episode 4).

So far, I’ve seen the first episode of Season 2 and I notice that the French characters speak more French (and less English) with each other. I love how we’ll get to hear more of the beautiful French language this season! C’est génial !

Tell me what you think of Emily in Paris Season 2!
