Bonjour ! This week’s carte postale features a pretty scene of Paris. It’s part of the LEGO Creator Postcard Series.

daydreaming of Paris: it took me almost two hours to put the postcard together

Like many people at the start of the pandemic, my family and I had to turn to more indoor activities to entertain ourselves during lockdown. One such activity that we enjoyed was putting together sets of LEGO building bricks!

The kit comes with all of these pieces (the orange piece separator is sold separately)

The 3D buildable LEGO Paris Postcard features some of the French capital’s most famous landmarks, like the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower, bien sûr ! The added details of a hot air balloon and a bateau mouche, or tour boat, cruising along the Seine River and under the Pont Neuf really ramp up the postcard’s cuteness factor for me.

The instructions say it’s recommended for builders aged 9+ (age 9 or 49, same difference!) 😉 It comes with stickers, like the French flag and design details for the Arc de Triomphe. When all 213 pieces have been assembled, the postcard stands over 5 inches (13 cm) high.

The LEGO Creator Postcard Series also features scenes of Beijing, London, and New York. I want to make all of them!

The kits make great gifts for the holidays, birthdays, or just because. When I went to the LEGO store, there were about six boxes each of the other three postcards on the shelves. There was one Paris Postcard left.

Either they had just restocked the other postcards, or Paris is really popular, non ? (I guess it’s the latter. As of this writing, the Paris Postcard is “temporarily out of stock” on the LEGO US website.) I’m glad I got the last one when I had the chance!

It took me almost two hours to put it together because I kept getting distracted by my daydream of visiting Paris again one day!

Over the years, I have accumulated hundreds of postcards from around the world, which I’ve either purchased from my local antique shops or received from thoughtful family and friends who know I collect them. When I travel, I also like to send myself a carte postale just for fun!

I hope these postcards will make you want to revisit a favorite vacation spot or to embark on a journey to the destination of your dreams.

Tell me in the comments: If you’ve been to Paris, what’s your favorite Parisian landmark?
