Wednesday Postcard: Arcachon, France

Bonjour! This week’s carte postale comes from Arcachon, a seaside resort in the Gironde department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in southwestern France.

Top: Arcachon beaches

Bottom left: The Thiers Jetty (La Jetée Thiers). Built in 1903, it’s the center of Arcachon’s nautical festivals.

Bottom right: The old Moorish Casino (Le Casino Mauresque). Built in 1863 in Parc Mauresque, the upper part was entirely inspired by the Mosque of Córdoba in Spain. In 1977, the Casino Mauresque was destroyed by fire. It was transformed into an arboretum in 1992.

Wednesday Postcard: Monte-Carlo, Monaco

Bonjour! This week’s carte postale shows the casino gardens in Monte-Carlo, Monaco!

Located in the French Riviera, Monaco is the second smallest country after Vatican City.

When I hear Monte-Carlo, I think of glamour, James Bond movies, the Grand Prix, and the American actress, Grace Kelly, who became Princess of Monaco in 1956 when she married Prince Rainier.
