at this time tomorrow
I’ll be without you
I didn’t take the time
to get to know you
or even bother learning your name
but strangely somehow
I’ll miss you just the same
although our time together was brief
you’ll be a part of my story forever
what a relief

Bonjour ! I’ll continue to write about my favorite French-inspired things, as well as books, chocolate, music, movies, and postcards, but to change things up a bit, I will also share a 50-word poem each day in the month of January!
These micro-poems are based on personal observations, pesky intrusive thoughts, and general anxiety about getting older. Have you ever felt a deep connection with another person despite a brief encounter? Let me know in the comments below. Thanks for reading!
This poem is from my poem-a-day series (January 2024).

A lovely poem. I, too, feel general anxiety, yet also strangely deep connection with people I’ve only met for a day, even only a few hours (especially during my travels). We, as humans, thrive on connection as means of survival and this poem exemplifies it. Thanks for sharing, Darlene.
