Happy May Day! In France, it’s Labor Day and the Fête du Muguet ! It’s customary for the French to give each other bouquets of lily of the valley, or muguet, for good luck!

Unfortunately, the sweet custom of giving lily of the valley is not practiced here in the United States on May 1 (not to mention, our Labor Day is in September!)

While I don’t have the actual flowers, I’d like to share my painting of muguet. I named it “Sweet Pretty Poison” since the entire plant is poisonous despite its sweet smell and delicate appearance.

Best wishes to you on this first day of May!
