I learned about Greg Gontier when I came across his French interpretation of Sabrina Carpenter’s hit song of the summer, “Espresso” on YouTube:

I instantly liked his voice and discovered that « Grands yeux bleus » is his latest song, which has been described as “French Country.” One of my favorite albums of all-time is John Mayer’s Born and Raised (2012) and this song has that album’s same vibe, which includes a mournful-sounding instrument (not sure what it’s called, but if you know, please let me know in the comments!) and whistling (or, sifflement in French). I look forward to more music from this talented artist who moved with his family to California from France when he was a child!
