Now playing on my French song playlist:

Title: dopamine
Songwriters: Benjamin Roustaing, Chloe Perrier, Jeoff Harris, and Madeline M. Harvey
Performed by Madelline

Lyrics I like:
Chaque fois que je pense que j’suis en contrôle
Tu me sers un cocktail qui me rend folle

Translation:
Every time I think I’m in control
You serve me a cocktail that drives me crazy
So lost in comfort
Do you lift me up or put me down without remorse? …

You’re everything I want, but nothing I need
Finally, I hate how you invade my head
From the moment I wake up, before I fall asleep
I want my D-O-P-A-M-I-N-E

I love how this song sing-spells the letters of “dopamine”: day-oh-pay-ah-em-ee-en-uh. When I first started learning French, I was always confused how to pronounce the letter “I” in French (which sounds like “e” in English) and how to say the letter “E” in French (which sounds like “uh”)!

There’s a bilingual French-English “split brain” version of this song that if you listen to it with headphones, you can hear French in one ear and English in the other.

I like to listen to songs en français, so I won’t forget the French I learned in school!

Until next Music Monday, have a good week ahead.
