Bonjour ! This week’s carte postale features the castle in Dieppe, located in the Normandy region (Seine-Maritime department) of France. I bought the postcard from the Alameda Point Antiques Faire, which is held on the first Sunday of each month. With over 800 vendor booths, it’s the largest antiques show in Northern California!

“Dave” wrote that it took him three months to find “Deanna’s” address in California. The postmark reads, “Army & Air Force Postal Service APO” with the date October 13, 1965

A few facts about Dieppe

  • Dieppe is located about 100 miles/ 160 km north of Paris and about 200 miles/ 320 km east of the medieval abbey, Mont Saint-Michel
  • The Dieppe castle is now a museum, which features an exhibit of ship models, 16th and 17th century Dutch paintings, and the largest collection of ivories carved in Dieppe between the 16th and 20th centuries

Over the years, I have accumulated hundreds of postcards from around the world, which I’ve either purchased from my local antique shops or received from thoughtful family and friends who know I collect them. When I travel, I also like to send myself a carte postale just for fun!

Have you been to the destination featured? Tell me about your experience there – I’d love to hear all about it!
