I sent myself this postcard from Disneyland Paris

This week’s carte postale features popular Disney characters: Daisy & Donald Duck, Mickey & Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Chip ‘n’ Dale, and Pluto! I sent the postcard to myself as a souvenir from my visit to Disneyland Paris with my younger daughter during our one-week trip to Paris in June 2025.

Formerly known as Euro Disney when it opened in April 1992, Disneyland Paris (or DLP) is a resort made up of Disney hotels, Disneyland Park (classic fairytale setting and rides), Walt Disney Studios Park (immersive worlds of Disney, Pixar, and MARVEL, which will be called “Disney Adventure World” in 2026), and the Disney Village (entertainment district with shopping, cinema, restaurants, and more).

How to get to Disneyland Paris by train

We stayed at citizenM Gare de Lyon (not an ad), which is conveniently located next to the Paris Gare de Lyon railway station. From there, we took a 40-minute ride on the Réseau Express Régional (RER) “A” train headed about 20 miles / 32 km east of Paris. We disembarked at the Marne-la-Vallée/Chessy station, which is a stone’s throw away from the parks’ entrance gates!

saw this sign for Marne-la-Vallée on the way to our hotel

A convenient time and money saver that I strongly recommend is the Navigo Découverte pass (not an ad). I loaded mine with a weekly pass good for all zones (1-5), which includes RER travel to/from DLP, Paris airports, Versailles, and environs. The pass, which is reloadable for ten years, also works on the Paris métro, as well as commuter Transilien trains that travel to Paris suburbs.

What I liked more at DLP than at Disneyland

  • the price of a “1 Day/2 Parks” ticket to DLP is comparable to the price of a “1 Day/1 Park” ticket to Disneyland Park and/or Disney California Adventure in Anaheim, California
  • the lines at snack stands throughout the parks were long, but there were many cashiers at each of them so the lines moved along at a brisk pace
  • the fish and chips at Toad Hall Restaurant (their use of reusable plates and cups encourages dining in, plus it made me feel good about reducing waste)

All told, we walked through one attraction and went on thirteen rides in the ten hours we spent at both Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris:

  • Slinky Dog Zigzag Spin (twice!)
  • Les Tapis Volants – Flying Carpets Over Agrabah (twice!)
  • Cars Quatre Roues Rallye (twice!)
  • “it’s a small world”
  • Mad Hatter’s Tea Cups
  • Le Pays des Contes de Fées
  • Casey Jr. – le Petit Train du Cirque
  • Alice’s Curious Labyrinth (not a ride, but a walking maze attraction)
  • Pirates of the Caribbean
  • Autopia
  • Ratatouille: L’Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy

More to come on my trip to Paris!

Over the years, I have accumulated hundreds of postcards from around the world, which I’ve either purchased from my local antique shops or received from thoughtful family and friends who know I collect them. When I travel, I also like to send myself a carte postale just for fun!

I hope these postcards inspire you to revisit a favorite vacation spot or embark on a journey to the destination of your dreams.

Have you been to the destination featured? Tell me about your experience there – I’d love to hear all about it!
