Wednesday Postcard: Copacabana, New York City

Was her name Lola?

Bonjour! This week’s carte postale is one of my favorites: a promotional postcard for Monte Proser’s Copacabana nightclub in New York City!

The hottest spot north of Havana

  • It opened in November 1940 as a supper club, providing cocktails, dinner, and entertainment
  • It closed in 1972, then reopened in 1976 as a disco
  • The 1978 GRAMMY Award-winning song by Barry Manilow was named after this nightclub

Until the next Wednesday Postcard, à bientôt! 💃🏻
