During the summer, I like to lounge around, read good books, and watch French films! I haven’t watched many French TV shows because the options to watch from the United States are limited. Some of the streaming services can be pricey, require a VPN connection, or have geographical restrictions.
Thankfully, I’ve discovered France Channel and I’m pleased to announce my blog’s partnership with them!
Since 2021, they have operated a video streaming service in the U.S. dedicated exclusively to French cinema, series, and documentaries – no VPN needed. In addition to movies and TV shows, you can tune in to their two international live news stations for current events in France. They have shows for kids, too.
The programs on France Channel have English and French subtitles available, which is helpful if you’re learning French. For instance, I try to keep up the French I learned in high school and college/university by reading French texts, listening to French music, and watching French films. Watching with subtitles has improved my listening comprehension significantly.
Monthly Free Online Screening: ‘Rani’ (July 2023)

Each month, France Channel offers complimentary online screenings of a film or TV show for 48 hours. Starting July 1, France Channel will be screening the first episode of the French series, Rani.
Rani is set halfway through the 18th century and depicts the adventures of Jolanne de Valcourt, a young French noblewoman who is betrayed and wrongly accused of a crime she never committed and is exiled to India. When her father dies, Jolanne must learn to defend herself. Meanwhile, her half-brother, Marquis Philippe de Valcourt, is destined to inherit everything following the death of his father, except his father was ashamed of Philippe, his only son who did nothing but accumulate debt and tarnish the family name.

This is awesome! I’m always looking for ways to keep up my French and, given that streaming services like Netflix have limited French films/series, France Channel seems like a great alternative! Thanks for this offer!
