“to be invisible”
is what I said when they asked at the party
“what’s a superpower you wish you had?”
they reacted with no reaction
though my volume was at a good level
and the answer was clear
maybe I was at the wrong party
maybe I was already super

Bonjour ! I’ll continue to write about my favorite French-inspired things, as well as books, chocolate, music, movies, and postcards, but to change things up a bit, I will also share a 50-word poem each day in the month of January!
These micro-poems are based on personal observations, pesky intrusive thoughts, and general anxiety about getting older.
Tell me in the comments: If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Thanks for reading!
This poem is from my poem-a-day series (January 2024).

More love in a big mix of peace and quietness.

Clever poem! For me, I’d choose the power of teleportation so that I can go anywhere in the world within a second. Or simply get to the grocery store within seconds to beat the crowds! 😆

Ooh, teleportation is a good one! Imagine … you’d get to see and do even more during your travels! Thanks for sharing, Rebecca!

“Poems don’t have to Rhyme” Chere Darlene, I love your poems. They are thought provoking and always interesting. AND, the best part, they rhyme with your heart. King’s could not do better.
Sincerely, Rusty Juri

That’s so nice of you to say, Rusty! I do prefer writing free verse, but once in a while, the muse will surprise me with a rhyme… and well, I’m just grateful when that happens. Thank you for reading my poems. I hope you’re doing well.
