Reduce stress, increase mindfulness, get in touch with nature, and go birdwatching! Did you know the average age of birdwatchers is 50? It must be true! Lately I am finding myself taking the time to admire all the beautiful winged creatures I encounter.

In honor of National Go Birding Day, here are some of my favorite snapshots of seagulls, pigeons, and ducks. I love music, so I’ve also included a couple of my favorite bird-themed songs. Finally, I’ve added a link to the Cal Falcons Nest Live Cam. The nest is located in the Campanile on the UC Berkeley campus. Peregrine falcons, Annie and Archie welcomed three eyasses, or baby falcons, on Earth Day, two days ahead of the prescheduled Hatch Day on April 24, 2024. It was cool to watch the fourth egg hatch over the livestream. You can tune in 24/7 from anywhere in the world to follow their progress!

“Three Little Birds”

I love to listen to this classic song by Bob Marley & The Wailers whenever I need a pick-me-up. The song’s chill melody and its lyrics, “Don’t worry about a thing ‘cause every little thing is gonna be alright” never fail to get me in a good mood! 🎶

What kind of bird are you? I took a quiz by the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy and based on my answers, I’m a California Quail.
