Now playing on my French song playlist:

Title: Ma préférence
Songwriters: Julien Clerc, Jean-Loup Dabadie
Performed by Cyrille Aimée

Lyrics I like:

Je le sais
Sa façon d’être à moi parfois vous déplait
Autour d’elle et moi le silence se fait
Mais elle est
Elle est ma chance à moi
Ma préférence à moi
Ma préférence à moi

Translation:

I know it
Her way of being mine sometimes displeases you
There is silence around her and me
But she is
She is my luck
My preference
My preference

This song was written and originally performed in 1978 by French singer, Julien Clerc about his relationship with French actress, Miou-Miou.

There shouldn’t be a need to justify to other people why you love someone, but if you must, this is a good song to express loyalty and devotion!

New Orleans-based, French singer-songwriter, Cyrille Aimée gives the song a jazzy touch.

She’s currently on tour to promote her 2024 album, à Fleur de Peau, which was nominated for a Grammy in the category “Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.”

According to her website, Cyrille Aimée grew up in “a multilingual household full of music where dancing was an everyday activity, soundtracked by the Afro-Caribbean rhythms of the bachata and merengue from her mother’s native Dominican Republic. The family home was in Samois-sur-Seine, the location of the Django Reinhardt Festival.”
