Now playing on my French song playlist:

Title: C’est la vie

Songwriters: Joren van der Voort, Léon Paul Palmen, Arno Krabman, Claude Kiambe

Lyrics I like:

La vie en rose
La vie en noir…
C’est comme ci, c’est comme ça
C’est en haut, et en bas…
Que sera, oui, sera
Écoute-moi, oh, maman
Chanter un, deux, trois
C’est la vie

Translation:

Life through rose-colored glasses
Life in darkness …
It’s like this, it’s like that
It’s up, it’s down …
What will be, yes, will be
Listen to me, oh, mom
Sing one, two, three
That’s life

Singer-songwriter, Claude, who’s originally from Congo and moved to the Netherlands as a young child, represented The Netherlands with this bilingual French and English song at the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest and finished in 12th place. 🎶🇳🇱

I love the song’s catchy beat and playful lyrics, which serve as a reminder that in life there will be good days and bad days. Singing along to the fun “la la la la vie” part in the chorus triggers something in me that tells me to just take everything in stride. It’s kind of a meditative chant in a way!

I like to listen to songs en français, so I won’t forget the French I learned in school!

Until next Music Monday, have a wonderful week ahead. ☀️
