TGIF: Thank Goodness it’s Fry-day! July 13 is National Fry Day!
Commonly known as French fries, did you know that the beloved deep fried potato snacks aren’t even French?! They’re originally from Belgium and usually dipped in mayonnaise. Legend says that they were attributed to France, in error, and that’s how “French fries” became a thing.
There are hundreds of ways to enjoy fries! For instance, in the Philippines, fries are eaten with banana ketchup. In Canada, they are often served with gravy and cheese curds to make poutine. Some people like to dip their fries in a milkshake!
Here are more ways to enjoy these fried potato sticks.

Happy Fry Day!

Fun post! In the UK we usually call ‘fries’ ‘chips’, but in France ‘les chips’ are what we call ‘crisps’.
And that’s why I love languages!

I always love a good fry! I was aware that fries originated in Belgium, but regardless, I’ve found my favorite fries have been in the Netherlands, France, and Canada (especially the poutine)! Can’t go wrong with fried potatoes in any occasion!

Yes, I love poutine, too! Whenever it’s available, I get garlic fries.

Also, I am surprised that the so called French Fries are not from France but Belgium, I didn’t know that at all!
