This song is the French version of “You’ll Be in My Heart,” the award-winning song by English singer-songwriter and drummer, Phil Collins. It’s from the 1999 Disney animated movie, Tarzan.

The sweet tune was reportedly written for his daughter, Lily Collins (who currently plays the titular character in the popular Netflix series, Emily in Paris.)

It’s deeply touching how a song can be both a sweet lullaby and a loving tribute song.

My beloved mother passed away peacefully on Valentine’s Day 2024. It’s a day of hearts and she will forever be in mine. I’m finding comfort in this song’s lyrics and I was delighted to learn there are versions in German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish. Here is the French version:

Title: Toujours dans mon cœur
Songwriters: Phil Collins, Luc Aulivier
Performed by: Frédérique Tirmont and Phil Collins

Lyrics I like:

… Lorsque le danger te menacera
Je serai là avec toi

Tu es si fort et si fragile
Viens dans mes bras, je te ferai une île
Ce lien qui nous lie ne cassera pas
Ne pleure pas, je suis là

… Tu vis dans mon cœur
Qu’importe leurs discours
Tu vivras dans mon cœur toujours
Toujours

Translation:

… When danger threatens you
I’ll be there with you

You’re so strong and so fragile
Come into my arms, I’ll make you an island
This bond that binds us will not break
Don’t cry, I’m here …

You live in my heart
No matter what they say
You’ll live in my heart forever
Always
